Zenko Iba

Azuki
Meditation master Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche invited Kanujro Shibata Sensei to the United States in 1980, and together they founded Ryuko Kyudojo with the vision of propagating a culture of enlightened warriorship. The name has changed from Ryuko Kyudojo to Zenko Kyudojo and most recently to Zenko Iba. Shibata Sensei eliminated the word "dojo" for all of his practice places in favor of "iba", a more traditional term and one that his grandfather used. It is short for "iru basho" or, "shooting place." A secondary meaning of "iru" is "to be," so, it is also "a place to be." Shibata Sensei teaches regularly at Zenko Iba and travels and teaches throughout North America and Europe.
